Window Fly Screens
Window fly screens keep out flies, mosquitoes, wasps, bees, midges, moths and other flying and non-flying insects, while still allowing the fresh air in. They do not obscure the view outside or block out the light, and they give easy access to windows for opening and closing.
Which Windows Can Have Fly Screens?
Window fly screens can be custom made for residential and commercial purposes, for use indoors and outside. They are suitable for home living areas, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and conservatories, as well as offices, restaurants and food preparation areas (to meet food safety regulations), mobile homes, caravans, boats, cars, tents, gazebos and more.
Window fly screens are made to fit windows of different sizes, shapes and styles, both small and large. They will fit sash, hopper, awning, casement and balcony windows, as well as entry doors, skylights, roof windows and vents, food serving hatches, open fires and other openings.
Types of Window Fly Screens
There are various types of window fly screens:
- Flexible window fly screen - fixed with material such as Velcro self-adhesive tape. The mesh screen can be easily peeled back and reattached for opening and closing the window. Flexible window fly screens are good for awkward-shaped windows, and are possibly the cheapest and easiest to fit style of window fly screen.
- Hinged window fly screen - hinges can be at the top or sides of the window screen. Turn buttons will keep the window fly screen fixed in place and allow it to be opened when necessary.
- Retractable window fly screen - also known as a roller fly screen. A retractable window fly screen pulls down like a blind and retracts upwards out of the way when not in use. Retractable window fly screens are among the more popular styles of window screens.
- Sliding window fly screen - enclosed in a solid outer frame, and slides horizontally on wheels across a track. Vertical sliding window fly screens are also available.
- Magnetic window fly screen - magnets are fixed to the window frame and hold the window fly screen in place.
